You’ve Been Triaged

v1
I’m picking through the wreckage of the friendships I have left
Marking them up like Starbucks cups as each one gets assessed
Some are ultimately treatable, some need immediate attention
And some of them are bagged and tagged “not for resuscitation”

I don’t know how to break this but your outlook isn’t bright
The pulse is imperceptible, our interactions calcified
The chances of recovery are only getting slimmer
And you’re fading from my memory like a Mercury Album winner

c1
You’ve been (you’ve been) You’ve been (you’ve been) triaged
(you’re category 3 like a Hong Kong movie)
You’ve been (you’ve been) You’ve been (you’ve been) triaged
(if you’re not really thrilling me it’s like you’re slowly killing me)

v2
Let’s try and keep it clinical, I don’t need complications
It’s really nothing personal, just resource allocation
I don’t have the leisure time to listen to your pestering
Screenplays that you’re going to write, domains you’ve been registering

c2
You’ve been (you’ve been) You’ve been (you’ve been) triaged
(I’ve dragged you to a wastebin that Windows says needs emptying)
You’ve been (you’ve been) You’ve been (you’ve been) triaged
(it’s not a fear of missing out, it’s more a fear of fitting in)
